Dr. Matt Elliott joins Cambridge-INET as a Coordinator

Cambridge-INET is delighted to announce that Dr. Matt Elliott will be joining as a Coordinator for the Networks, Crowds and Markets research theme, on the 1st August 2019.

Dr. Elliott is Reader in Economics in the Faculty of Economics at the University of Cambridge, Keynes fellow and a Fellow of Jesus College. Having gained his PhD at Stanford University, he was Assistant Professor of Economics at California Institute of Technology before joining the University of Cambridge in 2015. His research focuses on networked markets, including how personal relationships mediate businesses transactions and this impacts on competition in markets and investment decisions, dependencies among financial institutions and how these contribute to systemic risk, and the fragility of supply chains. He was awarded the 2012 Aliprantis Prize by the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory (jointly with Ben Golub, Harvard University) and the 2017 Wiley Prize in Economics by the British Academy for "achievement in research by an outstanding early career economist". He is the Principal Investigator of the European Research Council Grant "EMBED: Embedded markets and the economy".
