Cambridge-INET Institute Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (Research Assistant or Research Associate) (Fixed Term)


Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.

The Faculty of Economics, Cambridge University has a number of Postdoctoral Research Fellowships available for candidates working in networks, macroeconomics, microeconomics and econometrics who have recently been awarded a doctoral degree or expect to receive their degree by September 2017. The Fellowships are for a period of 3 years.

The Fellowships will be based at the Cambridge-INET Institute. The Cambridge-INET Institute was created to facilitate critical enquiry and broaden and accelerate the development of economic thinking.

We welcome applications from researchers working on areas related to the four themes of the institute (a non-exclusive list of topics of interest is in parenthesis)

  • Networks, crowds and markets (including theoretical, empirical and experimental research)
  • Transmission mechanisms and economic policy (including firms and sectors in macroeconomics; households heterogeneity; monetary and fiscal policy in closed and open economies);
  • Information, uncertainty and incentives (including game theory and behavioural economics; the theme is mainly concerned with theoretical issues, however, applications of economic theory, in particular to banking and finance, are also welcomed)
  • Empirical analysis of financial markets (including high dimensional econometrics; high-frequency trading and market-microstructure; big data)

Successful candidates should demonstrate an ability to develop their own research ideas and also work as part of the strong networks research group in Cambridge. It is expected that successful candidates' work will be at the cutting edge of the research frontier with a view to future publications in world leading journals.

Successful candidates who have not yet received their PhD by September 2017 will be employed on University Grade 5 for Research Assistants starting at £25,298 to £29,301 per annum and once awarded their PhD the salary will be upgraded to Grade 7 for Research Associates (Fellowships), starting at £29,301 to £38,183 per annum. Fellows would also have the possibility of joining a college.
